This particular model features a four-arm reel supported by a sturdy tripod base. The highlight of this piece is the exposed hand-carved wooden worm gear mechanism (see photos). As the arms are turned, the gears rotate a small internal peg that would eventually "pop" a thin piece of wood, alerting the spinner that the correct yardage had been wound.
Features & Condition:
• Construction: Solid wood with pegged joints and a primitive, hand-finished patina.
• Mechanism: Features a classic wooden worm gear and cog system. The gears appear to be in good antique condition and still rotate.
• Aesthetics: The wood has a deep, rich aged tone with a lovely "honest" wear consistent with its age.
• Dimensions: approximately 18in x 43inH
• Condition: Excellent primitive condition. There is expected surface wear, minor scuffs, and aging to the wood, which only adds to its rustic character. It remains structurally sound and stands well on its tripod legs.
